Youth Ministry

Teenagers aged 10 to 18.

Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. ~ 1 Timothy 4.12

In the Parishes of New Carlisle and Chaleur Bay we strive to be welcoming and supportive of the young people in our communities, and to provide training and resources for the next generation of Anglicans to learn about their faith, to grow closer in their walk with God, and to come to "the full measure of the stature of Christ."

Stephen Dow has continued to lead the children of St.James' Port Daniel and St. Paul's Shigawake in Sunday School at the Shigawake Municipal Hall. The summer/autumn of 2019-2020 saw 24 young people undertake the Catechism classes for Confirmation. The summers from 2017-2019 have seen the development of a Vacation Bible School program, which for the past two summers has been undertaken in partnership with Crosstalks Ministries, an organization rooted in the Evangelical Anglican tradition and dedicated to discipleship formation.

A small youth group has been formed at St. Andrew's, New Carlisle which meets every other Thursday at 6:30 PM at the St. Andrew's Rectory.

A vibrant ministry to the young people of our parishes depends on the prayer, support, and involvement of people from every generation. Members of churches, and others in the community are encouraged to share their support, ideas, and concerns with the Rector, the Rev. Joshua Paetkau. He may be reached by telephone at #418.752.3227 or by email at jpaetkau@quebec.anglican.ca
